I missed it. I usually vote by mail or by absentee ballot (I picked out the former by flashing my voter registration card at the Supervisor of Elections office which was in the same building where I worked). I was never asked for a photo ID.

When I do vote down at the precinct, I am not asked for any ID either. I guess the law only applies to people who might be troublemakers, and I come across as quite respectable.

The voter ID "obscenity" was implemented years ago, after the 2004 election.

Scott had nothing to do with it. Probably Jeb Bush.

I give up on education.

People go to such great lengths to cheat, how can those fancy certificates and assurances given by these organisations mean anything?

Goodbye, thanks for all the red herrings, I'll see myself out.

I have a photo ID driver's license, but I've never been asked for it. They only ask my name and they look it up to make sure I'm registered in that precinct and haven't already voted. That should be the only precaution required.

This year my wife and I got our ballots for the Republican primary in the mail, even though we have always been registered Democrats. We could have voted for Jon Huntsman without showing any ID at all. So much for "precautions to protect against voter fraud".

I have no idea how Skinhead Scott is planning on implementing this obscenity.

Florida already asks for a photo ID for voting.

I guess a lot of people in your neighborhood are in trouble.

Do YOU have a problem with that? I think it's fine. An SAT should be taken by the person who says they are taking it.

What's your issue with it? Why would you condone cheating?

Tom, we know your methods. We've learned to recognize your little sneaker posts when you're prepping us for the latest Conservative outrage. You are preemptively testing the waters because this is going to be a very big deal with upcoming court challenges as we get near the elections. This won't mean much for the electoral college, but it will be very effective in local and congressional elections.

Half the people in my neighborhood will be affected. If they don't drive, and many don't because of age, infirmity or because they don't own a car, they are going to have to find a way to go somewhere and get a valid photo ID made. Many of these people rarely leave the house. They often have to be driven by party volunteers to the polls just to vote. And most are on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or some form of government assistance. They are not voting for your lot.

Don't be coy, Tommy. You know exactly how this will work to keep Democrats out of the polls. People who have lost their driver's licenses, or never had one, will have to find a way to get this errand done, during working hours, at their expense. And they just won't be able to hop in the car and go to the DMV and spend all day in line getting it done, either. Maybe they've got DUIs or no car insurance, but they are still entitled to vote. These will be disproportionately black, poor, or hispanic, precisely the demographics you'd like to keep away from the polls. In fact, that is exactly what you're counting on, that many of these folks won't bother to go to the trouble. Republicans have always counted on Democrats not voting, it means they deserve to be bullied.

Now, you tell me specifically what studies or surveys have shown that a photo ID law, at the state level, would keep voter fraud down. Where or when has this type of multiple or false identity bunko ever been a problem (as opposed to the much more efficient stuffing of ballot boxes, tampering with voting machines, losing ballots, or shutting down the polls prematurely so working people who can't take time off can't vote).

Democrats know these proposed laws will cost them votes, that's why they oppose them. Republicans, however, tell us this is not what motivates them at all. They have to make up fairy tales about voter fraud, or Mexicans voting, or some other such nonsense. The fact remains, democracy works best when the franchise is as wide and as deep as possible. The more people vote, the more the election will convey the will of the people. Not just the nice people. All the people.

The fact this is happening in GOP states and led by movements in GOP legislatures tells me this is a GOP conspiracy, no one else will benefit from it. The fact you're already running interference for it only confirms it. Don't insult our intelligence, Tom. U Peeple don't pull this kind of crap without a very good reason.

It is YOUR party that is trying to get this travesty passed, not mine. The burden of proof that it is required is on you, not me.

There are no poll taxes.

There are no literacy tests. There is no requirement to hold property. There are no limits on sex, race, or anything else.

There is only a simple requirement that is already almost universal for anyone living day-to-day life in the United States.

And in fact, you can't even be specific about the "demographic" you're talking about, can you?

Again, why do Democrats need this "phantom" voter so very badly? Maybe you need to review who's "scared shitless." Or for that matter, who has a record of "stopping at nothing" in local and national elections.
