I watched a lengthy video on the same subject a few years ago. Do you expect me to spend another 30 minutes so I might gain more of an understanding this time?

If you seriously believe there’s more to it, and actually find the evidence compelling and above politics, I’ll have a look.

It’s interesting how liberals label themselves as all about “reality” when most of the time reality has nothing to do with their beliefs.

Did you notice the little education exercise elsewhere on this board?

Do you believe that we (humans) are mainly responsible for global warming?

If you think it doesn’t matter since we certainly contribute to it to some extent, I have no quarrel with you.

If you think there would be no global warming or negligible warming without us, I am beyond puzzled at how you got there.

It’s much more comforting to them than the thought of political ideas being derived by intellectual analysis and reason from history, observation, and the nature of man.

(It’s interesting that the same people pushing this stuff would crap a pineapple if anyone suggested the possibility of differences in the brains of different races.)

Liberals have become conservatives. Many of them. This is not because their brains were mutated by cosmic rays. It’s because they sat down and thought about it. Our form of government was created by people who sat down and thought about it. Hard. I hold the positions I hold because I spent many years thinking and observing. Sure as hell I didn’t pick it up in college classrooms.

The key phrase here is “I began to question.”

Stupid people can comfortably hold wrong ideas in their heads their whole lives. Never bothers them, even when it’s pointed out.

Intelligent people live in constant terror that something will show them their ideas are objectively wrong, and their intelligence won’t be able to discard it. These are also the kind of people who would find determinism comforting. No intellectual debate possible, no foul.

I’ve read some of his stuff, including his incredibly self-satisfied Mother Jones articles. One of the louder voices in the liberal echo chamber.

Anyone who can throw the term “Republican brain” around with a straight face is already full of shit. Ideas and facts are not a matter of biology, and anyone trying to convert these things to a matter of biology is someone who probably doesn’t like what straight analysis of objective reality delivers.

Like I said, there’s been a lot of this sort of thing going around lately. A recent paper tells how people who are skeptical of human-caused global warming need to be “treated.”

Rob nailed it when he compared it to “studies” proving the intellectual superiority of whites. Same methods, same reasons for doing it, same load of crap.

I’m curious why liberals are so terrified of the idea that some concepts might be the result of philosophy and centuries of thought and analysis, and are desperate to make it into some kind of pathology.
