I&#039;m sure that under special circumstances they could be made to distort, and I doubt that would be stable.

I think your first instinct is correct: that the inflexibility of the bond angles would tend to make &quot;flexing&quot; a sphere difficult.  I&#039;m not sure what the forcing mechanism would be either.</description>
