You've watched the Republican primaries, the Tea Party screw it right into the ground. And you say the liberals are lost.

We as a country are still suffering from the lives lost for nothing under Bush. The trillion dollar surplus wasted and several trillion more wasted after that. The US move from the moral high ground into a moral abyss. The Constitution ignored, the Supreme Court ignored and the Legislature ignored even though it was Republican.

I can see why you'd want to forget it.

And, I can understand why Obama may be fond of FDR. Each of them inherited a country in the midst of a Republican financial disaster. And each of them can get frustrated with those people who caused the disaster not wanting to help work out of it.

Some folks know no shame.

You're really a lot more comfortable back in 2006 than you are in the present day, aren't you?

Take some comfort that you aren't the only liberal lost at sea right now.

The Supreme Court had ruled it illegal before Bush and Cheney did it. There was no doubt. It had been decided.

It wasn't as if there were a question. There was none.

Which makes it more egregious.

In other words, no case was ever brought before the Supreme Court.

Didn't even make it past the Sixth Circuit court.

You might want to check on what the current Justice Department is doing in this arena.

Here's one article.

Are the Democrats going to try to haul Holder in front of the courts now? Maybe impeach Obama?

"Responses to the Government's Defense of National Security Agency Warrantless Wiretaps"

"In fact, the Supreme Court has never upheld warrantless wiretapping within the United States, for any purpose. In the landmark ruling of Katz v. United States (1967), the Supreme Court held that the Fourth Amendment applied to telephone calls, and that probable cause and a warrant are required before electronic surveillance of such communications may be conducted. And in a previously cited decision (United States v. United States District Court, 1972), the Supreme Court specifically rejected the argument that domestic security concerns justify warrantless wiretapping."

If the "Radical Republican" congress of the past has shown me anything, it's that any process for choosing an elected can be easily twisted and abused.
