I confess I had to research "art commissions". I wasn't at all familiar with them. Those are some very talented people, and it's a way to make money to which I've not been exposed. More power to them. The lady in question is unquestionably talented.

And given the welfare history she claims, it's not a way to make enough to get by on. It's certainly not enough to make much with now.

As far as the housing situation is concerned, the landlord is in the business of renting and wants to have the place rented. If she and Jay were good tenants I would imagine there would be no problem with their continuing to live there.

Jacob's "accidentally" spitting near the landlords' mother sounds suspicious. I go for years without spitting once, and to be spitting during a confrontation would have to be regarded as aggressive in this day and age. At best it was incredibly stupid.

She doesn't say what will be different next month, or the month after. What is she doing to help herself? It's not as if caring for a terminally ill man has a future, or that the end of that source of income is a surprise. I didn't see anything.

For some reason I resent her sense of entitlement. She could have looked for a job instead of running all over town looking for welfare. She does have talents, and energy.

I wish for everyone's sake she could direct those into constructive channels. But to answer your question, I don't regard her activities in the art commission field as a viable way of living for her yet, nor does it seem to be so in the foreseeable future.

I take it taking art commissions isn't the same as an actual job? I understand all your other points, but that one confuses me.

That gets my old liberal blood boiling. From what she says, she's done everything except try to help herself. And we're hearing only her side of the story. She blackens the cause of every person who is truly needy. This is what Conservatives complain about, legitimately.

I'll bet the lease reads that the place was rented to her father only and he was to be the only occupant. When he died the place was vacant. She and "Jay" and the critters moved in with Dear Ol' Dad, without permission, and now are squatters.

Simply reading her story, I can't see anyone at fault for her position but herself. Her sense of entitlement, the sense that the world owes her a living and place to live, is overwhelming. In fact she's demanding that someone else pay for her. And Jay and the animals.

I'll give any beggar who approaches me something UNLESS they demand something, or are young, with or without the goddamned pit bulls they haul around. I'd do nothing for her. At least given what she says.

My neighbor is willing to work, looks for work, doesn't think that anyone else should bail her out. She can't find a job, I know, but she does try to work.
