Everytime they threaten to charge me for something I threaten to take my business across the street, even though it would be a big inconvenience for me to transfer all my direct deposits, re-open IRAs’s elsewhere, etc. Its’s why I resist automatic bill paying, it would be a big hassle to have to move it all to another institution, and there’s a lot of opportunities for something to go wrong. So far, I’ve manage to win every face-down.

They know this too, and I know they know, so its only a matter of time. And if I ever do move, the new bank will probably have similar rules and regulations, so I’ll just be cutting off my nose to spite my face and make a point to a soulless bureaucracy that could care less what I do. Any damage I can do to them they can easily absorb. I have a lot of other banks to choose from, but they’re really all the same. They just have different names.

But my checks are free, as are my genuine simulated leather checkbooks.

I pay no service charges for my checking accounts, no minimum balance. ATM services are free. Don’t know how long that’ll last, but I have lots of banks to choose from and they all want my business.

I do have to pay for check printing.

Unless yo have really big accounts with them, they are, in essence, offering you a negative interest rate. You pay them for the privilege of letting them store your cash.

I’ve never had a major alteration due to an update, but it could happen.

The whole “interest” thing is pretty much dead. We were told for years to keep the money and get the interest, or don’t let the government keep it for refunds because you lose the interest.

Fact is, there isn’t any interest to be had in bank savings any more, so why bother? I maybe make 20 bucks if I keep the money versus the IRS holding on to it.

I have two adult offspring that have yet to learn the fine art of doing things on time.

Maybe I’m just strange, but if I have something unpleasant to do, whether its pay taxes, pay a bill, or get a tooth pulled, I like to get it over with as soon as possible. It means I won’t have to deal with it later.

I pay bills way earlier than they need to be paid, and get started on projects way before they’re due. Procrastination makes no sense, you’re going to have to do it anyway, and when you do, you’ll have a lot of stress to deal with, and no cushion if an unexpected problem arises.

And when the chore is done, I love to sit around and feel self-righteous while everyone else is running around trying to get the job finished before the deadline.

OTOH, I hate multitasking. I don’t like working on more than one project at a time.
