Loss of signal is also a signal. And the design is a <a href="http://www.housearrestbracelet.com/house-arrest-bracelet-key-features.html" rel="nofollow">bit more complicated than we think.</a>

There are other kinds of bracelets which transmit through a specific land phone line. Those are for house arrest, and will tie a person to a specific address.

However, as with the GPS and cell phones, working at their best they will only tell when you're already gone. They don't prevent anyone from leaving, and clever people will arrange it so that it seems you are still there.

Anyone dumb enough to take their cell phone or GPS bracelet with them will be "seen" from time to time and that will help track them.

Parolees or probationers who take off have an interesting way of being caught, according to a friend of mine who retired as a Senior Parole Officer. He said those folks are usually the types who hang out in bars or taverns. They befriend other lower lifes and get drunk and brag. Sooner or later including their police records. That's error #1.

Error #2: They are also not always the most pleasant people, and will hustle someone's girlfriend, borrow money or drugs and not pay it back. That pisses people off.

So the pissed off person will "drop a dime" on the pisser off, and back he goes. Seems to a way that can usually be counted upon. No sense wasting time chasing most of them down, just wait for them to do themselves in.
