I always had jobs where someone was depending on me for *support* to be given to them because they were in a vulnerable place. I have babysat, cleaned houses, taken care of the sick..or dying at the hospital, and styled hair. From my perspective and my life experiences, it was paramount to put my charges immediately in a comfortable place. If they were at ease...then I could do my job effectively and with less drama. As a result, I nurtured the extroversion aspect of my behavior. I was great at it...as long as I knew that I could curl up on the couch and immerse myself in total solitude when I got home.

Therefore, anyone who may know me in real life would scoff at my assertion of being an introvert.

Nowadays.....pffft. My extroversion is limited to my internet ramblings.

I have often wondered why people who come on like freight trains always say, "I'm basically shy" or "I'm really an introvert".

I think it's because while they are nervous interacting they are more nervous not interacting and after a short while move in and try to take over. That, and while they are afraid of attention, they like it more than they are afraid.

It's fun to watch a performer on stage claim to be an introvert. It's possible, I suppose, but they had a drive to perform and learned how. I don't believe 'em.
