For the two of us, I spend on average $350 at Costco monthly. That includes things like pet food, paper products, vitamins, toiletries, household cleaners, water filters etc. We spend about another $100 at other grocery stores to fill in here and there.

I've been using a free budgeting software from "Mint.com" I really like it. Let's you keep track of every penny.

Nice thing about Costco, If you buy a package of Q-tips, they'll last for 5 years. I have some 3 year old shaving cream lol...

EDIT: changed monthly amount form $475 to $350. The difference is we usually stretch it to 5 weeks, sometimes six. The $100 fill in is probably a little low. Don't mean to sound like an ad but Mint makes it so easy to track your finances. It'll track your net worth and follow your home value. At a glance you can see how your doing on your budget and see monthly net income and trends. You can get all your info for all your accounts in one place. Charts graphs and ways to track or search for transaction. I've had MS money before prefer Mint.

My husband is completely out of his comfort zone with the financial aspect of retirement. He questions everything I spend money on now and he is making me a nervous pervous.

I have a 7 year old, 28 year old 87 year old two 57 year olds. 4 cats...one is on a special needs diet.sigh...I have quit eating out.

I stopped the Atkins. Sheesh...retirement isn't any fun yet. Actually...retirement sucks.

Too many variables.

What are prices where you live? How many people are you feeding? What kind of food do you eat?

There's two of us living here, but we shoot our kids grocery money, too.

For just us two, about $200 a week between grocery stores and eating out sounds about right.

I don't keep track, but I'd guess

about $250 a week. (There are two of us). However, we make no effort to economize.

I have no idea.

I buy what we need, and spend what it costs. We don't eat anything really fancy. I could save money with more planning, coupons, and a lot more home cooking. Our major drain is eating out when neither of us feels like taking the time to cook something after my wife gets off work. The height of eating out for us is usually something like Marie Callendars.
