I wonder if Phillip was as delighted as he seemed. He did not write the screenplay and the story was changed significantly. He may have been currying favor for future deals with Hollywood.

Dick's androids were not as sympathetic as they were in the film and the only colony available for earthers was Mars and none of the fancy smancy worlds advertised in the film.

Interesting to me how the film has become quite dated by the absence of cell phones in their version of the future. Pay phones, meh. Other than that it stands up well and is one of my all time favorites

Even those who can't accept Dick's dystopia need to be aware of it, and to know it's potentially right around the corner. I never read the book, but the film certainly gave us an alternative view of the future, one that doesn't seem as remote and unlikely as it seemed back then.

My wife often remarks how "Blade Runnerish" modern science fiction all looks. But at least its not as unrealistic and sacharrine as the Jetsons future we inherited from the Golden Age. Forewarned is forearmed.

One of my favorites of all time. Great movie. But which version? There are several as I recall, but my favorite is the directors cut without the narration. Now when I watch a version with Harrison's narration, I cringe. But it is probably his best role on film. The music by Vangelis is just trippy enough to not be dated already.

Mr Scott makes great films, most of wich I can watch time and time again.
