If I remember correctly, it started out like an "X-files" with stand-alone episodes. They didn't do much more than kill monsters and solve mysteries. But they did it with flare, and our fondness for the characters grew every Friday night. Especially for Walter. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had gotten ‘new’ writers later in the series.
