They don't have to be the best news channel ever (they aren't), they just have to be better than the others. Chris Matthews. Good grief. You hear a lot about Wright from alternative news. Not much from the mainstream. The 2008 coverage was when Hillary was pushing the meme, someone a lot of mainstream news Democrats liked (and maybe still do). That shut off quickly once Obama was the candidate. Just a test: How much did we see about Mormons when Harry Reid was running his tight race in 2010?

It’s the biggest news channel by far and they along with the rightwing blogosphere and radio talk shows provide the “news” for half the country. There’s no question they all fanned the flames of conspiracies about the president being a muslim.

And are you saying no one has examined Rev Wright? We heard more about him than I’ve heard about Mormons. There was at least a few weeks of intense negative news coverage about his church in 2008. Nothing on that scale has happened in the media about Romney’s church.

Mormons think black people have the mark of Cain. They wouldn’t allow blacks into their priesthood until 1978 when, facing losing their tax exempt status, they had a revelation!!! God told them it’s okay now – just in time, god!

If Obama’s church believed as a fundamental tenant that another race was a certain color as punishment by god, I think it would be fair game for at least some in the media to examine it.

And Romney is not just a church goer, he’s a bigwig in the Mormon hierarchy.

Do you understand what “mainstream” is supposed to mean?

Is it reasonable that major news organizations, theoretically objective, should be aghast at any examination of Obama’s personally spending, by choice, twenty years in a radical church, but at the same time figure that the history of Romney’s church a century before he was even born is somehow important?

Doesn’t this strike you as just a little bit nuts?

Just acknowledge that there’s a “left wing media” to go along with the “right wing media,” and that the former vastly outnumbers the latter, and we can go on from there.
