Might have had a few drones around here last night.

The President is in town, and I was taking the recycling to the curb last night. Saw a light moving toward me, like an airplane, but with no blinking running lights. It was a fairly large light. As it went overhead, I could barely hear a very quiet propeller/engine noise.

Then a white strobe started blinking next to the light. Not like an aircraft strobe, but more like what you'd get if you took a regular strobe light and set it off. The strobe moved away from the main light. Now it had my attention.

Another strobe appeared, and as the main aircraft flew over, the two strobes moved down and away, flying next to each other. The strobes started flying around the sky, first together, then moving apart. At one point there seemed to be three of them. After a while, only one was flying around where I was.

There's was nothing secret about it. The main aircraft, almost silent, had a big yellowish-white light on it (no green and red running lights or strobes of any color), and the little aircraft (no noise at all I could hear) had one bright white strobe light on each. All movements were typical of normal low-speed aircraft, slow and smooth.

Later, saw a couple of easily-identifiable jet fighter planes crossing the sky at high altitude.

Most likely explanation: a military prop aircraft distributing drones?

All of them were way out of shotgun range. :)

I'm absolutely positive it would be illegal to do so, and they'd still have to prove it was me.

I simply wouldn't tolerate the damned thing unless there was a cop I could see controlling it. That's an intrusion too far.
