"This news story is just Democrats trying to put a Republican “beard” on their own failed ideas."

No this news story was a republican making an honest comment about the ideological rigidity of his party.

“See? Here’s a Republican who thinks ‘compromise’ is going along with our tax increases. It’s a Republican idea, too.”

No here is a republican who is actually serious about fixing the deficit and debt, and not just paying lip service to it while while increasing it with endless tax cuts for the wealthy.

"None of the facts in my post are a “fantasy,” and you know it."

How about your last line in this post? "The official Democratic position is that everything is just fine the way it is. " If you think that is the official Dem position you clearly have your head somewhere you can't see any daylight. Just for the record, the official Dem position has been long term debt reduction and short term job growth, but the GOP has been making the latter difficult with their bullshit austerity demands. Btw, Mitt Romeny just said he supports the same policies. How long before GOP lapdogs like yourself pivot on that point and all agree with him?

"I made the point that Democrats don’t need Republican cooperation to get the tax increases, except to spread the blame. I emphasized it with italics. The Democrats should put up or shut up.

Obama hasn’t said crap about entitlement reform in his budgets, or anywhere else. The Democrats shot down Simpson-Bowles, and every last reform proposal out of the House."

Yes Obama can do nothing and the bush tax cuts will expire. I hope it comes to that but he has said he wants a big budget deal that would remove the need for it. You are either ignorant or a liar if you say Obama has not reached out and sought a deficit reduction deal. He was ready to give the fucking house away during the debt limit debacle and the GOP refused to give an inch. What total morons. They had 90% of what they wanted and they still said no. Your guys are Wicked Stupid.

I don't see Romney proposing reforming the military, maybe into one which can win a war against a stone age third world country perhaps?

After three losses in a row you'd think Republicans would recognize the need to redo those folks, They aren't protecting anyone from anything, they're just spending money and getting killed.

Let's do reform where it's needed most, not social services, but with the military. How 'bout that?

Changing the subject to your fantasy du jour about democrats just shows how out of touch you are.

Btw, Obama has made it clear he is open to a large long term deficit reduction plan that includes entitlement reform but aslo must be balanced with revenue increases.

"A number of Republicans?" Make a list.

Simpson-Bowles turned out its report in November of 2010, when the Democrats ruled Washington. It was ignored.

What did Obama and the Democrats actually do? Obama extended the Bush tax cuts, including the ones for the rich, and kept us on a course of trillion-dollar deficit spending. You saw how Nutters' little article got ripped to shreds. I just posted the mainstream media responses. There were better ones.

Don't you get it? Everybody can see what's going on now.

Obama is trying his best to see that the shit doesn't hit the fan until after the election. He tried it with health care, he's trying it with taxes, and he's trying it with foreign policy.

It's not working.

Taxes are scheduled to go up drastically, automatically, next year. If spending targets aren't met, automatic cuts are going to take place. Obama's own budgets are dead on arrival, even with Democratic legislators. Democrats in the Senate haven't produced a budget in three years.

What I'm seeing from the Democrats is raw animal panic. They've never learned how to use their brains. Never had to before.

You think tax increases are necessary? You don't need "compromise." You don't need "bipartisanship."

The ball is in Obama's court now. If he wants taxes raised, all he has to do is sit on his hands and veto any attempt to stop the scheduled raises. He doesn't need Congress. He doesn't need the Senate. He doesn't need one damn Republican vote. It's that simple.

"I, Barack Obama, realize that tax increases are the only answer. $400 billion in increases will occur automatically in 2013, and I will veto any attempt to thwart this."

Short speech. Wouldn't even need a teleprompter.
