Check the Tea Party Christians. No compromise, with is a definition of democracy.

Face it, most people who say they are Christian don't go to church, there's just a vague belief somewhere that you must be something and this is a "Christian" country.

As far as Christians wanting to turn this into a religious state, simply look at school prayer and the abortion issue. Or creationism.

Instead of keeping their religion to themselves, instead of living good and pious lives, the Fundamental Christians want to cram it down everyone elses throats. They worry about what others are doing. Which is, according to Christ, none of their business.

I swear, the Fundamental, the Basic Christians, have not read the New Testament, or what Christ said, or what He believed in. Sad.

Christians don't like democracy?

Majority rule?

An interesting theory in a nation where somewhere between 60 and 78 percent of the population is Christian.

Most of the country is Christian. Has been since the founding. And oddly, no theocracy in all that time. Think about that a while.

Oh hell, forget the "thinking" part. I should know better.

A vast majority of this country is Christian. This should mean that if they really wanted to do all the things you fear, it would have been done years ago. In point of fact, very, very few Christians believe in "cramming down their religious beliefs down our throats."

I repeat, in a democracy, if they did, it would have happened by now.

What are the "religious power" controversies we read about in the papers? A plaque in a city hall with the Ten Commandments on it. Manger scenes on public land. "Under God" in the Pledge. A single school district that wants to teach Creationism. Abortion amendments that never even come up for a vote in Congress, never mind being approved by 2/3rds of the states. School prayers aren't even allowed, much less forced.

Not much theocracy going on around here that I can see.

Imagine this nation if the same percentages were Muslim. Think it would be as tolerant?

Perhaps you want to refine the concept of "Basic Christian" a little bit more?
