Make it a federal law that all guns are to be on your person, or under lock and key. At home, you’d be required to have a gun safe or use trigger locks. If followed, this law would eliminate most of the accidental deaths of children, by children. Not to mention the reduction in thefts.

These weren’t accidents, they were cause by the negligence of adults.

Next, I’d confiscate handguns which came to the attention of authorities. I wouldn’t look for them, but if a search turned up a handgun, it would go. If someone was carrying one in a car and the car was searched, it would go. Gradually handguns would become rarer and rarer.

Anyone with a handgun with a manufacture date after the law went into effect would go to jail for 5 years, no parole. The idea would be to get handguns out of circulation. After all, they kill 25 friends and family for every badguy, are counterproductive. Any weapon which killed 25 friendlies for every badguy would be banned.

I don’t know how registration would help but since there is support for it, I’m all ears.

We are only animals after all.

The answer has never been about what others do. YOU won’t add to the violence. I won’t add to the violence.
That is as good as it will ever get. One person at a time laying down their gun, and refusing to partake in the madness.
