I'm sure he was trying to refer to the liberal position on abortion, ignoring that conservatives avail themselves of abortion, adultery, drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc., and so on. Sarah Palin's little girl Bristol has made a great living out of her drinking and screwing around before she was 18, even.

I was ignoring his oblique reference to liberals, was pointing out that as far as I'm concerned conservatives would do well to abort the immorality out of their bloodlines.

He, of course, was referring to liberals. The problem is that liberals accept man's humanity and don't need to breed it out.

I wasn't clear, I'll admit. But TBs snarkiness, as you'd call it, did not escape me. I can track him most of the time. I have problems when he has to ignore the meanings of words, such as "lie", or "greed", and simply denies truths which are uncomfortable. But that's not a lack of understanding, it's a frustration with a personality which cannot admit anything which might be interpreted as unflattering.

Tom dropped a real stinking turd with that one, and I wonder if maybe you missed it.

You might ask yourself whose ideological system he might be referring to, and ponder the phrase "eliminate the offspring of people with those thought patterns before they were even born".

That's a pretty severely conservative sentiment.

I don't handle poisonous snakes because I've seen and heard what happens to people who do. Over time, not handling poisonous snakes has become innate in my family - no one handles poisonous snakes. Darwinism is operating.

This fellow didn't learn from others not to handle poisonous snakes, as one would expect. His fater died from it, and he continued the practice. And he still bred. Some female found him attractive enough to breed. Darwin is not operating.

Were Darwin true, tempting snakes would be a turn-off for the bearer of the progeny. Most women, I'd presume, would not want to breed with someone who is liable to pass on one of the dumbest, most ridiculous, inane traits known to modern man.

For it's a fool's bet. If you lose, you lose everything. And If you win, you get squat. Zero. Nil.

Leave it to those Christians to thwart Darwin, at their peril.

If you really wanted to make sure a set of ideas was taken out of the gene pool...

You might set up an ideological/legal system that would eliminate the offspring of people with those thought patterns before they were even born. Voluntarily.

The snake handler didn't "autodarwinate", unfortunately, because he's already reproduced (articles refer to his "children"). As did his father before him. Its stubborn persistance suggests that this could be a mutation that doesn't express itself until relatively late in life, and so it slips under the radar of natural selection, which is based entirely on living long enough to reproduce.
