I've got my handy eclipse glasses.

Scattered clouds here, but the event is long enough (early afternoon to sunset) that there's bound to be some visibility.

During the recent partial solar eclipse I saw a remarkable number of people holding their IPhones or other phone cameras up to the sun and looking at the screen. I have no idea if that does damage to modern camera chips. My van's little backup camera routinely ends up with full sun in its "face" without permanent effect.

Just hope it is not too cloudy this afternoon. I've set a a mirror projector to observe the transit. It uses a small round mirror, about the size of a quarter, that I bought at a craft store. This is mounted with double stick tape to the top of my camera tripod. This will be set up in the driveway. The image will be projected on the back wall of the garage. To make it darker in the garage, I removed one of the panels in the garage door (about 18" x 24") and will project that image into the dark garage with the door down.

It's only fitting that the garage works for this set up, as the driveway is where I have my giant sundial. I attached a short dowel rod on the peak of the garage roof which casts a shadow for several hours a day on the driveway. Over the years, I have marked the hours at the top of the hour (using one of those clocks that calibrates to the atomic clock. The times are marked by drilling a small indent into the concrete and darkening it with a marker.

Happy viewing, may y'all have clear skies.
