Curiosity hits Mars in 55 days June 11, 2012 4:21 pm RobVG

The countdown

Hopefully it won’t be a smack-down. At over 2000 pounds and with a new ‘sky crane’ to lower it to the ground, it might be a nailbiter.

I wonder what would happen if it landed on a steep slope since their target area is 12 by 4 miles? But since Gale crater is 96 miles in diameter, it should be a piece of cake…

    • NASA is well aware. I've read several statements that Mars missions end in failure 40% of the time. n/t by RobVG 2012-06-13 18:12:21
