Go to the “help” part of the Facebook page menu (click on the little “down” arrow at the top right, next to “Home” to get to it.)

In the search box, enter “delete account permanently.” The first result will help you out.

You can opt out of the whole thing by going inactive, I think.

I got rid of many of the reminders etc by changing the permissions as Rob mentioned.

You might have to spend more time there than you want to but the controls are there.

As for using FB to connect to sites. This is never the only option, as far as I know. It is just a simpler option vs entering name, email, logon name and password. I have caved in for the simple several times but it is something that makes me a little nervous.

I’d keep it bowser. There are plenty of web pages including facebook that show you how to “lock it down” using permissions. It’s not too difficult.

Don’t use anything (apps) that tells it’s going to use all your info. At least they warn you.

Last night I saw a friend of a friend that was a childhood friend of mine. We fished together regularly in a small stream in our hometown. I see from his fb page he is an avid steelhead fisherman.

FB is a nice diversion in my opinion.
