Another case where nobody really thinks it through.

Real ancient human "fossil" footprints have been found, but they are from the correct time frame, and rare.

If there had been enough human beings back then to leave fossil tracks, usually the result of a rare geological condition, you'd think that somewhere along the line someone would have found other human fossil remains among the countless dinosaur digs. Nobody has. How likely is that?

A real million-year-old fossil human footprint is seen below:

A detailed treatment on the Paluxy footprints can be found here, along with explanations.

See the differences?

The dino footprints went through at least one cycle of burial and exposure.

In the case of the human tracks within the dino tracks, it's not outside the realm of possibility that a human walked in those tracks and formed new new ones.

A little bit of evidence would be nice though.

But that 20% difference is still hard to spin, isn't it?

Actually, I'm surprised the creationist fraction for Dems is as high as those figures seem to indicate. I suspect those are rural and southern conservatives who have registered Democratic in their states for primary voting purposes, or because their communities are dominated by Democratic party machines. Or maybe its the prevalence of black fundamentalist Christians in certain communities.

you must certainly concede that regardless of what the figures indicate, the evangelicals seem to hold much more influence on the right than on the left. They're always yakking about how god is on their side, and their political foes are so unChristian.

"The ideological homogeneity of the creationist position...anti-evolutionary pseudoscience is restricted to only one side of the political spectrum."

Okay, I guess we've now redefined the concepts of "homogeneity" and "one side."

Or perhaps you were just using a "conceptual metaphor." :)

doctrinaire Marxism tends to appeal to those same two demographics, for pretty much the same reasons. The young feel they are the world's only idealists and the only ones who really care about the poor. The old cannot imagine they have mismanaged their lives and must fabricate a conspiracy that oppresses them.

Once you get past their terminology, it's hard to tell the two apart without a program.

58% of Republicans are religious wackos,
41% of Democrats.

That is exactly the point.

1) Adolescents who feel an inherent arrogance and contempt about their own superiority...

2) The middle-aged whose lives haven’t turned out quite the way they expected them to, and who need a scapegoat to pin their own shortcomings on.

Now that's funny.

What the table told me is that twice as many Democrats think the Earth was created 10,000 years ago as think that evolution is purely natural.

Which kind of blows your "one side of the political spectrum" idea out of the water.

Which was kind of the point.

The fundowackos outnumber the moderates 2-1, and they outnumber the infidels almost 12-1. The Indys and Dems don't even come close to that level of polarization. Which, after all, was precisely the point I was trying to make.

What that table tells me is that all the reasonable, common sense Republicans became Independents. At least on this issue, their profile is almost indistinguishable from the Dems.
