The fact is, the people in first class would rather not hire anybody. It’s not that they are bad folks, not hiring people is their job. And failing that, they hire people somewhere else where they are cheaper, or they get into businesses that don’t need workers at all, like finance. Do you really think that if you gave them everything they wanted they would be ready to give any of it to you? Right now their major goal is to avoid becoming just like us.

This is not ideological, TB. We would have wound up in the same place if Communism had won the Cold War. This is the way the world is now, capital and labor is free to cross boundaries and oceans, as are finished goods and raw materials and information. Nation-states and ideologies don’t matter, only companies do, and they don’t care what happens to people, they have their own ecosystem, their own metabolism, their own civilization, and your only role in it is to consume and to work. The world doesn’t need as many people as it used to. Most of us are surplus.

You can’t help but consume, and they don’t need us any more to work. This is the world I saw coming 40 years ago, and its here right now. We had better get with the program. Things are not going to be any different regardless of who gets elected in November. It simply makes no difference.

As Rev Al says, “Corporations are NOT people, they’re Republicans.”

I want the people in the front seats to succeed, and not be torn down. I can live comfortably because a lot of people make a lot more money than I do. People find jobs because somebody with more money than they need to live can hire them. That’s my self-interest.

The engine that powers an economy is people making lots of money. The Great Clinton Years were powered by people making lots of money.

The problem we have right now is a political culture running the country that believes the private sector is the enemy, something that needs to be collared or crushed.

Many businesses are behaving like anyone would if someone were taking shots at them. Keeping their heads down. It’s really that simple.

This will change. Wait for it.

I never lobbied congressmen or influenced elections, or flipped condos or speculated in property, business or the markets. Those who did are mostly sucking canal water right now. But I’m readier than most of the people I know for what I think is going to happen.

Just because I don’t agree with you on the causes of what is happening to this country (actually, its the whole world, not just us)doesn’t mean I didn’t see it coming a long time ago, and I’ve done everything I could to get ready for it.

You’re like a guy in the back of an airplane wondering why he should worry about a hole in the fuselage up in first class.

The funny part is, Obama is pushing all the usual leftist hot buttons and none of it seems to be working.

Maybe a lot of people are less concerned about what Romney does with his own money than what Obama is doing with ours.

I never realized you people were going through all this skullduggery and treachery for a measley tax increase of less than 5% that only affected people in the top few percent of the earning population.

When I was working, I would have gladly accepted a 5% tax increase on my modest income as a civil servant if I felt it would help the country. In fact, I would have easily accepted twice that much, for patriotic reasons alone, just to know I was doing my share. I’d take a 10% hit now if I felt it would help, if I knew the rich were paying their share.

As for the 2013 tax bomb, you brought that upon yourselves. You were offered a great deal and you turned it down.

What is wrong with you people? You don’t really care what happens to this country, all you really care about it is that it doesn’t happen to you.

What I can’t figure out is how those who aren’t rich, the Republican poor, got conned into swallowing the Party Line. The job creators are not going to come rescue you, no matter how many tax breaks you give them. They don’t care what happens to you. The money is following the jobs: it’s all getting outsourced.

You can move the magnetic words around on the fridge as many ways as you like if it makes you feel better.

This tax increase does almost nothing for the deficit. Look at the numbers I gave. This only accomplishes one thing: allows Obama to keep selling his class-warfare, anti-rich campaign, which is all he has going for him right now.

They’ve run out of other people’s money. No matter how many illusions liberals erect around themselves, sooner or later they’re coming after all of us.

Reich is the guy who wanted to index the minimum wage to inflation. The Left is economically insane.

Is that tax on all people who make more than $250K? Or is it on all income OVER $250K? That makes a big difference.

Either way, they can afford it.

To hear the media report it, President Obama is proposing a tax increase on wealthy Americans. That’s misleading at best. He’s proposing that everyone receive a continuation of the Bush tax cuts on the first $250,000 of their incomes. Any dollars they earn in excess of $250,000 will be taxed at the old Clinton-era rates. [emphasis mine]

Get it? Everyone is treated exactly the same. Everyone gets a one-year extension of the Bush tax cut on the first $250,000 of income. No “class warfare”.

For extra credit: Does that $250k figure refer to net or gross income? Will a small owner-businessman with say, ten million dollar a year
sales and and a net profit of $249,000 be affected by this law? Will this “job creator” have to pay any more taxes?

The only people who’d have to pay substantially more taxes under Obama’s proposal are those earning far in excess of $250,000 — and they aren’t small businesses. They’re the fattest of corpulent felines. Their spending will not be affected if their official tax rate rises from the Bush 35 percent to the Bill Clinton 39.6 percent.
