And he announced who he was, how much he donated, and why.

It wasn't done anonymously, through a shadowy campaign contributions scheme designed to conceal who the donors are, how much each donates, and what they expect the candidate to do for them.

It does seem that artists, scientists and other creative people tend to lean Democratic, while practical business types and engineering weenies are more likely to go the other way. (Yes, yes, I know there are exceptions). I don't know why this should be so, but it is.

I am in favor of NO contributions to political campaigns, or if that cannot be done, limiting it to a modest amount from each citizen, But if we're going to auction off the American government to the highest bidder, then we should at least know who the hell he is.

Like the Rev Al says, "Corporations arent't people. They're Republicans."

As for Avatar? Yeah, it was shameless propaganda. I even panned it here on the zone for that very reason when I wrote a pocket review of it when it came out. So?

My problem with Avatar wasn't that it was propaganda. Or even that it was obvious and heavy handed propaganda. It's that it was bad propaganda.
It was not very entertaining, except for the effects and the action, but the "big bad corporation" message we were bludgeoned with was so obvious it probably had an opposite effect to that which was intended.

Its not that I disagreed with the message, its that it was delivered to me in a sermon. I despise being lectured to, even when I agree with the lecturer. When people preach to you, what they are really saying is "You're so dim I have to explain to you how stupid you are before I set you straight."

You've probably noted how I react around here when I hear that.
