*I* don’t need laws such as stricter gun control…so I am actually at a loss for understanding. I just accept it as it is.

There are a lot of laws I don’t need to live my life. There is a lot I don’t understand. I just skip merrily along in my deluded conservative state of being…trying to do the right thing.:)

Gun violence in UK

Demand for firearms by citizens is at an all time high and home protection firearms are being approved with relative ease.

I can assure you that 99% of the people who have a horde of guns are doing so because they believe that an apocalypse is coming. They be a bit nutty but they are not dangerous. Come an apocalypse, they might be good to know.

Here is something to chew on. The most effective way to eliminate things like the Aurora incident is to eliminate privacy laws. I know this would enrage both sides of the gun question. Neither the gun rights activist or the gun control people could stomach this but those who say the life of a child is worth a lot of sacrifice should consider the fact that privacy laws protect psychopaths way more than free access to weapons.

Psychopaths will find a way and a weapon to commit psychopathic acts. The only way to stop them is to give Big Brother free access. I am no privacy nut but that does not appeal to me in spite of the fact it would have zero effect on my life.

I’m not sure Rob ever read the article I linked to. He’d have found that the online weapons market it describes is totally black and has no known location. In other words, it isn’t subject to US gun laws anyway. The scope of the problem is now international.

I think it’s much too late to close that barn door. If we survive this epoch of easy access to cheap weapons, Darwin suggests we’re going to be some mean futhermuckers in a century or so.

Forget all those sci-fi movies about the murderous aliens. We have met that enemy, and they are us.

Any restrictions on magazine size would be easily modified by someone like the Colorado shooter or anyone else with access to the internet. Semi automatic weapons are easily converted to automatic, silencers are expensive and not readily available but home made models are plentiful.

I have always thought that claiming modified assault rifles are sporting equipment is ridiculous. but all you are doing in the end is changing the appearance of the weapon.

It will take a total ban on firearms to really impact guns in the USA. I don’t support that and there is very little support for that. They may try to pick away at the problem but all they are doing is wasting tax dollars and they will not save lives at the end of the day.

Tragedies like these make me want to do something but I have no good ideas.

The cause of both the Gifford shooting and the one in Colorado was mentally disturbed individuals. I don’t know what changes could be made to our mental health policies but it would be another “good step” to improve them.

But then what the hell do you expect from Brietbart, honest reporting? What a laugh. But ABC News is different. They should fire Brian Ross.

As for gun laws, banning high capacity magazines would be a good step. It would have saved 6 or 7 lives in the Gabriel Gifford shooting. Perhaps the little girl who was shot dead.
