I understand he accident occured at night, it might be interesting to duplicate the events using the tankers nav lights as seen from Porters bridge. Porter would probably only have her navigation lights on, but Otowasan would have been lit up like a Christmas tree with floodlights illuminating her decks for crew safety. Unless she had been ordered by Porter to go dark to avoid enemy action. I still think the Iranians are behind this, somehow.

I wanted to get a feeling of the view from Porter's bridge, so I poked around in 3D Warehouse. Right away I found a model of USS Fitzgerald DDG-62, a sister Arleigh Burke class destroyer, to USS Porter DDG-78. I also found a ship very similar to M/V OTOWASAN, VLCC TI Africa.
I scaled TI Africa in the x,y,z, down to the Japanese ships dimensions, (Length,1247'- Beam,197')

I wasn't there, of course, so I don't know, but I suspect this was either an act of god, like a steering machinery casualty, or some consequence of enemy action (Iranian speedboats, etc).

It denies, blames, conceals and what little the US public ever finds out is skewed, spun and distorted.

The Pat Tillman story, the Jessica Lynch story, the Abu Grhaib stories are the rule, not the exception. There isn't a grain of truth in the Pentagon. Terrorism is called "collateral damage", torture is not anything the US does if the person lives, and if he dies it wasn't torture, it was heart failure or suicide.

And if one does find something, it's true only because one believes it, not because it happened as they explain it.
