The dog that does nothing in the nighttime September 9, 2012 12:03 pm TB

Anybody remember the intensive anti-war movement a few years ago?

Well over twice as many Americans have died in Afghanistan since Obama became president than during Bush’s entire two terms. The thousandth American casualty passed in 2010. The two thousandth this year. Did you see any headlines this time around? I didn’t. If you look at Moveon.org’s front page, the war in Afghanistan isn’t even mentioned.

Curious, as Holmes might say. For some reason the anti-war movement as a major news story and center of nation-wide activism vanished about fifteen minutes after it stopped being useful as a political weapon against a Republican president. You’d almost think it was never about the war at all.
