...however we need to expand a bit on part of it. I think that the terms I provided were pretty easy to demonstrate (or if you don't agree, then please bring up the points for discussion). But I'm not sure how to demonstrate the "blindness" of acceptance and support. And I don't know what to make of the word "any" in that context. It seems to make the definition open-ended and unprovable. Can you pare it down to the essentials that you really care about?

As to the rest of your post, I know for a fact that you've ignored many things. I've ignored a few things myself. If you feel that ignoring things is going to help you then do more of it, I guess.

<blockquote><a href="http://www.mccain.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressOffice.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=bac1e2b5-d0b6-cf25-a96d-6db0fa7a374e" rel="nofollow">Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) today released the following joint statement regarding the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya yesterday.</a>
“We are anguished and outraged by the death of four citizens of the United States, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, during an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.

“Chris was one of America's finest and bravest diplomats, and also someone we considered a friend. In the midst of last year's uprising in Libya, Chris traveled at great personal risk to Benghazi to represent the country he loved as the U.S. envoy to the Libyan opposition. He advanced American interests and values in Libya and stood with the Libyan people throughout their struggle for freedom and during the challenging times that followed. His death at the hands of extremists is a tragic and awful loss for the people of both the United States and Libya.

“There is still much we do not know about what happened in Benghazi yesterday. What is clear, however, is that the attackers must be apprehended and punished. We appreciate that senior Libyan leaders have condemned these cowardly attacks, and we now look to the Libyan government to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice, and that U.S. diplomats are protected. We have confidence that our own government will provide all necessary assistance to this end.

“Yesterday's attack is a tragic and terrible reminder that – despite the hopes of the Arab Spring – the forces of violent extremism in the Middle East are far from defeated, and that the revolutions inspired by millions of people who dream of freedom and democracy can still be hijacked by small groups of violent extremists who are eager to kill to advance their evil ideology.

“Despite this horrific attack, we cannot give in to the temptation to believe that our support for the democratic aspirations of people in Libya, Egypt, and elsewhere in the broader Middle East is naive or mistaken. We cannot resign ourselves to the false belief that the Arab Spring is doomed to be defined not by the desire for democracy and freedom that has inspired millions of people to peaceful action, but by the dark fanaticism of terrorists.

“To follow this misguided path would not only be a victory for the extremists and their associates, but a betrayal of everything for which Chris Stevens and his colleagues stood and gave their lives. In short, it would be a betrayal of our own best ideals as Americans and our own enduring interest in using our great influence to support the overwhelming majority of people in the Middle East who want to be free from the kinds of murderers and terrorists who killed our people yesterday in Benghazi.”</blockquote>

<p>As long as we're defining "carrying water..."</p>

I would also include "blind acceptance and support of any position your party and its backers takes, regardless of its accuracy or rationality."

Do you have any idea how much outright bullshit I've just plain ignored in the past few weeks? I need to work harder on doing that.

I propose:

'Responding aggressively to claims of falsehood or poor ethics on the part of someone we politically favor, while never referring to the allegation itself or admitting that the allegation was made. Trying to shift the discussion to other things and blaming the media coverage of the alleged transgression on people who should not have covered it.'

If we can agree on that, I can find several examples pretty easily.

I'd love to have someone point out where I've done it.

Let's not discuss "carrying water" without mentioning the tanker trucks the liberals here have been hauling around for Obama and the Democrats.

For that matter, maybe we shouldn't be discussing "knee-jerk hate" without mentioning the paragraphs of bile spewed here against conservatives and Republicans.

he shouldn't have exploited this incident for personal gain. He could have stood in solidarity with the victims, instead, or attacked the real causes of the incident: the terrorists who held the smoking gun, and the Americans who gave them the ammunition they needed.

And you shouldn't be cheerfully carrying Romney's water either. But you always do.

You expect the nation's enemies to try to hurt us for their benefit, You expect our enemies to attack, and you fight back. You don't expect our presidential candidates to seize on the tragedy to attack their political opponents, fellow Americans.

In another thread here I defended GW Bush from an attack based on his failure to anticipate the WTC attacks. I felt it wasn't fair. Maybe he can be criticized for a lot of things, and I have, but not for this, not for failing to see 9/11 coming.

TB, I have never seen you give the other side an even break. They are always the bad guys, and your side is always the good guys. You have lost all credibility.

I looked in 3 news sources and did not find anything like what you describe (results below). Can you point me to a source that gives preference to a "Rotten Romney" story over the story of the attacks?

In fact, of the three sources the only one that had a story about Romney towards the top of their first page was Fox.

msnbc:

headline story: "US ambassador, three other Americans killed in attack on US consulate in Libya"

Smaller type story: "Obama: Ambassador Stevens was 'courageous'"

Even smaller type story: "Florida pastor promotes inflammatory film"

CNN:

Headline story: U.S. AMBASSADOR KILLED

lower, under: U.S. MISSIONS ATTACKED subheading

Photos: Protesters storm missions

Romney blasts Obama's foreign policy

U.S. steps up security worldwide

Fox:

headline story: US AMBASSADOR TO LIBYA KILLED

next stories: Romney Stands by Criticism of Obama Administration Response to Cairo Attack

Marine Unit Dispatched to Benghazi | US Embassies in 7 Countries Warn of Possible Attacks

Anti-Islam Filmmaker in Hiding After Protests at US Embassies | Israel Distances Itself From Prophet Muhammad Film

<p>Look around. I'm not the one doing the "spinning" here.</p>

Embassies were attacked by radical Islamists on the anniversary of 9/11, an ambassador actually murdered, and the news stories are all about how rotten Romney is.

It was done in a very calculated way, by this guy. http://abcnews.go.com/US/terry-jones-pastor-burn-koran-day/story?id=11575665

Really I can't believe you are carrying Romney's water on this. Some people will do anything to get elected. And some people will cheerfully help them.
