Sometimes I feel like a nut...sometimes I don't.

My life experiences have knocked me off my ideological pedestal, so I am of the mindset that nothing is what it seems.

I think there are a lot of back stories we don't know about. This thought doesn't consume me, but rather makes me more determined NOT to be like *them*, in my life.

So yes...conspiracies are possible, probable, and I can do nothing about them.

Coca Cola's stock price doubled when they released Classic Coke after their switch to New Coke was poorly received. It could have been unplanned; it could have been thought out in advance, who knows? But it's far from the crackpot conspiracies listed before it. I'd give that one a "Probably True" answer.

JFK wasn't killed by a lone gunman, and 9-11 could have been prevented if the government had done it's job.

A close one is that Pearl Harbor was foreknown, which isn't true. They knew an attack was coming, didn't know it was Pearl Harbor. Thought it was in SE Asia.

Check the thread below where Bowser wants to see these questions.

I just decided to make it a new thread.

Bowser already agreed with one of the questions.

Seems like this one really struck a nerve with TB. Hmmmmm, I wonder why....

It's funny, I posted the original link more as a gag than anything else, I never even read the whole article (OK, I admit I was giving TB a bit of a spitball upside da head), but I really didn't take it all that seriously, I never expected anyone else would either.

In fact, if someone had actually asked my opinion on this topic, I would NOT have said it was the result of conspiracy theorist-prone wackos. Au contraire, I think its a deliberate, orchestrated and well-financed public relations campaign (from totally legit organizations) on a policy issue which represents a financial threat to corporate interests. In fact, it is modeled on existing campaigns in the past, like the tobacco industry's war on the idea of carcinogens in cigarettes, or the pesticide industry's attack on Rachel Carson, or GM's lame attempt to Watergate Ralph Nader (OK that was just a tad illegal.)

There's nothing conspiratorial about this, It happens all the time. Corporations are people, they have First Amendment Rights. Corporate alliances and industry associations routinely attempt to mold public opinion through public relations and lobbying efforts in order to encourage certain outcomes which are financially beneficial to them. This is a well-known and respected industry in this country. I know, because I used to work in it.

As for anti-AGW scientists being "secretly funded", etc, how can you even discuss that? If it were secretly funded, no one would know about it. Of course, there seems to be a lot of petroleum industry mouthpieces arguing this case who are being funded quite openly, they work for industry and political groups which see this as a threat.

As far as No. 20 in the Conspiracy Catalogue:

The claim that the climate is changing due to emissions from fossil fuels is a hoax perpetrated by corrupt scientists who wish to spend more taxpayer money on climate “research”.

Naaaah, now who would say a thing like that?
Besides, they didn't even mention the UN Socialist bureaucrats out to destroy Western Civilization by shutting down Capitalism so we would become totally dependent on their welfare handouts and they could accumulate total power over our precious bodily fluids...Muahahahahaha.

What they in fact proved was a correlation between people answering some types of questions one way with people who answered the established science questions a particular way.
