I don't feel I'm threatened by the Democrats. It's the Republicans who are telling me I'm stupid, lazy, and a freeloader, and that they're going to balance the budget on my back so they can treat themselves to a tax cut. A large number of working class whites do bitterly cling to their guns and Jesus and lament how their pick-up truck good old boy cultural universe is fading right before their eyes.
