I just posted something regarding the election on another board, and I felt a little uncomfortable afterward.  And then I realized it’s become too easy.  After candidates such as Nixon, Reagan, GHWB, and finally GWB Republicans thought they could get anyone elected if they just threw enough money and dirt.  And now they seem to have hit the limit.

It’s not the run-of-the-mill Republican who picks these people, they are just expected to support them.  And they do, witness the praise for Palin.  (Speaking of whom, the party leaders must have had a sit-down with her and told her to shut the hell up and stay away.)

But it’s become ridiculous now.  A suit, like Reagan, only not as feelgoody, not as friendly, a guy out of touch with the US keeps stumbling.  And the poor schmucks out there are having to “hunker down” in the fact of their incompetent candidate and his incompetent campaign.

It might be the decent thing to let this play out, not rub anyone’s noses in it, maybe even do away with the “Flame” and “Current Events” boards until after it’s over.  Romney may pull it out, but if that happens it will involves so much dirt and money we wouldn’t want to be near it anyway.

I’m not saying I’m going to avoid all comment.  I will try to avoid kicking the hell out of someone when they’re down.  Maybe a tap now and then, but this has gotten too easy, I think.
