Blowing up people, shooting them, knifing them, firebombing them is part of what war has always been about. It’s a sickness, a disease of our species that we kill each other on such massive scales.

But there’s something about systematically marching millions of people imprisoned for their race into gas chambers that is on a different level of evil.

All of them used systematically to exterminate people. All of them horrible.

Zyclon B is just another in that list. Just as horrible.

I can understand the desire to somehow make the Jewish Holocaust different, or special, we’ve had a lifetime of being taught that. I just don’t think the case can be made. I truly believe it is part of a systematic brainwashing of the American people for political purposes. The fact that we virtually ignore what we’ve done to Native Americans and have Jewish Holocaust museums all over the country says a lot.

All the atrocities you mention are horrifying. None of the others were done in the manner of gas chambers killing millions of imprisoned people. The sheer fact that it was done as a matter of government policy in such a systematic and scientific way by an advanced modern nation is one of the most frightening things I could ever imagine.

There have been many, many atrocities on the level of the Holocaust, both before and after WWII. The American genocide of Native Americans was on a par, the American Holocaust of Vietnamese was another. The American terror bombings of Germany and Japan, the German and Russian holocausts during WWII. The recent African genocides, equaling in number and ferocity the German.

And yet we are reminded over and over and over about the Jewish Holocaust, not about the rest. A cynic would say it is to keep American public opinion thinking Israel is a poor underdog, on the verge of “being driven into the sea” and keeping the money flowing in the form of foreign aid to support the suppression of the Palestinians.

And that cynic would be correct. Israel is not the nation she was 65 years ago. Time to cut her loose, hopefully to learn to be a civilized, good neighbor.

And I’m in favor of equal time for Holocausts. The German treatment of Jews was inexcusable, as has the treatment by the Jews of the Palestinians, the Russians of the Germans, the Europeans of the Native Americans, the Americans of the Vietnamese. Etc.
