If I remember right, Tom starter putting posts in here that were more than likely erupt into flames.

We used to flagrantly flame each other on CE and the forum survived. Threads were moved or people called their opponents to flame when things turned all- “ad hominem”.

One thing I’ve noticed is people use flame to express an opinion. Sometimes they use Off-topic too. We really don’t have a board to express yourself other than Community. Very early on I realized that loading a post with personal pronouns wasn’t the greatest way to get your point across. It was better to include supporting links and cite their sources than to wing it, with only your own experience.

A board where you can more freely use “I”, “My” and “Me”, to say what’s on your mind would be nice.

As far as a “Hierarchy” goes with parent and child boards, why not give it a try.

That’s fine, but I’m going to have to study it a bit first. I don’t mean to put you off, but I think I might get in trouble if I start talking about the little I know. It’s not a simple topic.

During the last 4 years of Ws admin, the CPI went up by about 13.8%. During the first 4 years of Obama the CPI went up by about 6.5%.

But don’t you think you’re stacking the deck against yourself posting in Flame? (I know ER started this one, but the “consumer-driven” economy thread below was yours.)

Sometimes I think that CurrentEvents is not quite the right venue either for serious discussion. The name implies that it deals with news, but you (and I) want to talk about timeless theory and concepts. Besides, through practice we all know that “CurrentEvents” really means “Shrieking Partisan Howler Monkeys at Work”.

What about a new hierarchy of boards under the root “Public Affairs”? We can have an unlimited number of boards, and posts in child boards can be set to automatically show up in higher boards, so no worries about “Balkanization”. That way, we could have an “Economic Theory” board; and because it’s not Flame, we can impose higher standards than this dump.

I’m sure it’s something about me rather than you, because I get to this point with TB all the time. I ask him a question because I don’t understand his post and he thinks… heck I don’t know what he thinks. It seems to be a “Danger Will Robinson” response (if any response).
