How does a wingnut survive the cognitive dissonance between Romney’s words last night and his stated positions during his 5 year presidential campaign?

Total repeal of Obamacare? No he’ll keep some parts. Repeal of Dodd-Frank? No he’ll keep some of that too. Tax cuts, yes no maybe? The etch-a-sketch is complete.

As for the debate, Romney won stylistically, Obama won factually. Style beats facts in this format unfortunately.

…that the guy who wins the first debate carries momentum and the loser bears the burden of trying to come back. With a month to go and the VP debate next, it means at least half that time is Romney’s to exploit.

It’s no coincidence THe Daily Caller unearthed the lecture Obama gave praising Jeremiah Wright and sounding angry. Everyone is looking for his angry, aggressive tone to surface, so he’s sort of caught. He’s damned if he doesn’t go on the attack and damned if he does and appears like an angry black man.

But because this probably already cost him 4 or 5 points in the swing states he will HAVE to be more aggressive. Unfortunately, that style won’t compare well with Romney’s calm, measured “voice of reason” tone he has perfected for these debates. So it could backfire.

I still think if Biden does poorly, it will cement the deal for Romney among most independents. He will have had over two weeks worth of momentum, that is hard to counter. Bush senior had the “Quayle factor” and no one is talking about the scary fact that Biden is one heartbeat away from the Presidency. The “Biden factor” is an issue every time he opens his mouth. This time he wont be debating Sarah Palin.

I think he didn’t want to look too defensive by hammering back at Romney. Wolf Blitzer is angrily blaming the people that prepared Barack. It was their failure according to him.

I think Obama can, and will do a better job.

Obama’s running not on BS anymore, but his record. (Which seem like synonyms but they aren’t) Romney pounded the Solyndra deal. That will stick in people’s minds. Obama can’t speak off the cuff. He neede prepared remarks and when he strays, he wanders and is unconvincing.

Romney just won many millions more in donations with this performance. People see he can take on Obama and look even more Presidential. And if Biden is not played by an actor, then Ryan will deliver the second KO in a row. Obama will find it hard to bounce back.

This was like Reagan in 80. Reagan was a cartoon, an actor. But when he spoke alongside Carter you saw that Carter was the clueless one. Romney pwned Obama and came off more commanding and more Presidential.
