And no matter how much socialism fails, for these reasons they can never let it go, because their entire self-worth is tied up into it. They have let it define them and tearing socialism out of them would be like losing limbs. They’ve got a vision of the world and they are comfortable with that. Take it outside that “Habitable Zone” for them and they will fight tooth and nail against it because it tears down their own self-validation, life choices, etc.

It’s normal. But it’s one of the reasons that the HZ became uninhabitable. Sure it was an odd-coupling of conservative Justin and ultra-liberal Robert, but when Justin moved on, the Zone quickly became a left-wing circle jerk.

Now the place is Tom for the libertarian/conservative angle, you and Rob for the moderate angle and everyone else for the hard left. My participation at this time only adds another conservative voice. But at the end of the day, I don’t really care. Politics doesn’t define me. Politics are a tool within the larger framework of society. As soon as you personalize that stuff, you’re toast.

But, for old time’s sake, throwing a few flames around during a Presidential election year, and watching the knee jerk responses, is amusing.
