When I pointed out that the things the Left vigorously protested during the Bush administration as violations of our liberty are not only still going on, but in many cases have been increased?

Well, now you can blank it out again.

I think people can make their own judgments here about whose “welfare” is in hazard.

TB, Democrats are not Communists, as you claim, and compromise is at the heart of democracy. And families, every constructive organization.

Frankly, I’m concerned for your welfare.

I was just going through the motions when I asked you to draw a line at “sensible.” You brought up the term “sensible,” remember? Quantify it if you can. Tell me why the level of regulations in 1970 was not “sensible.” Or 1980.

Other people may find the numbers instructive.

Keep in mind the actual number of accumulated pages would require adding the number created each year to the number of the year before that.

So if the graph were flat at the 10,000 line, the cumulative count would be about three quarters of a million pages.

Now, consider this: How many potentially hazardous new products have been created since 1935? How many new industrial processes have been invented? How many entire new industries?

You are doing what you always do. You speak in broad general terms but as I’ve said before, show me a regulation and 9 out of 10 times I can show you a very good reason for it.

It’s “sensible regulation” that has been redefined upward to the point where no aspect of life in our country is considered beyond the direct control of the Federal government. Go ahead. Try and think of anything you can do in business (or almost any other major activity) that does not require Federal permission at some level.

This is your society on the downslope:

An exercise: Draw a line across that graph where you think “sensible” is.

Add to that almost two thirds of the Federal budget dedicated solely to wealth redistribution, and the growing idea that all wealth is inherently the property of the State so that untaxed wealth is considered “spending.”

Economic totalitarianism is where it’s always been. We’re just getting closer every year.
