Legal disclaimer: The Federal Election Commission requires us to point out that the margin of error of 5% is half of the difference, and the lead may not be 10% but may only be 5% and with a shift of 10% of Jones votes it would be a tie. Further, we are required to point out that 10% is not a large number, it is entirely possible that could shift and Smith could be ahead. Or at least tied.

Additionally, legally we have to say that if the Smith workers get out there and produce these numbers could change. That a poll such as this does not condemn Smith to losing but could be a spur to his campaign and result in his winning this election. This is only a poll, an indication, not a prediction.

We have to add that the people we polled could have lied. Or they may not vote. Or they weren’t who they said they were. Or that our pollsters misunderstood them. Or maybe our pollsters stayed home and made the whole thing up. But a 10% lead with the huge margin of error of 5% doesn’t mean squat, and we printed it simply to fill space.

Now, after commenting upon the absence of some of us you try to say that at least I am still involved. I was involved, that was a while back, and ER and I opted to at least start to limit the invective.

An intellectually honest argument wouldn’t say that someone had stopped and that they were active. Both. Don’t let that stop you either of you, though.
