Half the people in exit polls still blame Bush more than Obama for the current state of the economy. Half.

I see no reason to believe that the Democrats could not successfully carry that meme out another four years. Or eight. Or twenty.

Part 2: It will be conservative interference, if the conservatives find a way to stop the recovery. I don’t think they can do it though. Let’s see what happens when it’s time to raise the debt ceiling.

Democrats don’t need “fallback positions.”

It’s now obvious there’s nothing they will ever be blamed for.

Under FDR’s policies, the economy hung in stagnation for an entire decade, with unemployment rates above 14 percent the whole time.

This is widely regarded today as a fantastic success.

I don’t recall attacking pollsters on that basis but a fallback position that seems logical would be to say simply that the strategy worked and their skewing affected the outcome of the election. People tend to gravitate to the apparent winning candidate.

Speaking of fallback positions what will the liberal fallback be if the economy is still floundering 4 years from now? I am sure there will be one. Conservative interference? Dog ate my recovery plan?
