The truth is that your’re profoundly unhappy and you want to tell everyone how unhappy you are. You want them to listen to you, commiserate with you, and nod sagely in agreement with you. And you come here because there is no way for anyone to shut you up. All they can do is leave, as so many other good people already have. Which of course, only convinces you how weak and deluded they are, how they “can’t handle the truth”.

Think about it, is there any other public forum, one with real people sitting around in chairs conversing face-to-face, a workplace breakroom, church, club, bar, coffeeshop, classroom, student lounge, anyplace, that would put up with you dominating the conversation on the same topic every single day, all the time?

Oh sure, there are other obsessives here, we all obsess about something, sometimes several things. I have my sea stories, Podrock has his rocks, Bowser is still fighting an addiction he doesn’t have, Lindy has her New Age anomalies. But we have other interests, too. And sometimes, we just want to play, we want to enjoy the pleasure of another human’s company without humiliating him, shouting him down, showing him what a fool or scoundrel he is. Most of us here genuinely like people, we enjoy talking to them even if they have goofy ideas, we don’t feel the need to put them in their place, to rub their nose in the truth, to wipe the floor with them, to “make our point”.

No TB, you’re a profoundly unhappy man, one who is determined to explain his frustration as the result of a great conspiracy which everyone else is either a part of or somehow is incapable of seeing unfold around them. You justify your intrusive and disruptive behavior by casting yourself as a fighter for freedom, a great patriot, a logician, philosopher and scholar. But if you really wanted to do something about what you see as this creeping tyranny, then why aren’t you teaching, writing, running for office or participating in public affairs? Why aren’t you actually doing something about it? You used to do that as a space advocate, you were well known, had a reputation and credibility, that’s what brought you here originally, isn’t it? Now you just come here and scream at a dozen old farts, half of who think you’re nothing but a crazy, cranky, pointless little man.

That’s right, all you do now is come here, to this dying backwater, of all places, and bitch and whine like an old hen, and when people lose their temper and call you on it, or refuse to participate, or leave, you find that as evidence that you are on the righteous path and telling the truth to power, fighting for truth, justice, and the American Way. Isn’t that grand? Isn’t Tommy a comic book superhero, a freedom fighter? Isn’t he dynamic? No, you’re just a harmless but pitiful bore, growing crazy and old before your time.

Wise up, do a Bobby Burns, consult the Merlin in you, see the truth, and see yourself as others see you before you are forced to face it all by yourself, alone, with no one to share it with. Life is short, shorter than you can imagine. And believe me, it gets shorter every day.

Go read the report. You should be smart enough to locate it. Let the world in once in a while.

I’ve responded to a number of posts from a number of people. The gist of many of them falls under the category of “no. That statement is not true. Here are the facts.”

This infuriates the hell out of people who have a lot invested in the lies.

This election ran on lies and innuendo. Now that it’s over, the liars are still in power. It matters in a democracy that people like us look for the truth when we vote based on what we know–not what we want to believe.

Practically every other post here has contained statements and talking points that are blatant bullshit. And provably so. Most of the time I just let them ride. But once in a while, just to make a point, I decide not to let them ride.

Debate ought to be to arrive at what’s true. Debate in this country is now about destroying the opposition.

Now go look at that Merlin clip again.

To make your theory stick, you have to come up with a plausible reason why the video lie is a workable cover story for a CIA operation, but a terrorist attack is not.

Or why you can triumphantly declare from his debate that Obama said it was a terror attack from the very beginning, in the Rose Garden, while simultaneously defending Obama saying he fielded the video story because he didn’t have any more information than that. Which one was the lie?
