If someone set him up it was the person who coordinates his schedule. Nonetheless, I would think someone who's done as much grandstanding on Benghazi as McCain has would be personally aware of the briefing.

It was an embarrassing public blunder that I'm shocked TB has not acknowledged. But that's life in the bubble I guess...

Did you see the cnn report on this? The producer asked him why he wasn't at the meeting and McCain started arguing he didn't have to answer that question.

Also, have you noticed everyone who was at the briefings has pulled back from McCain's rants?

This is another idiot accusation, Jody.

Throw it out, and then gather around it hooting like monkeys. But for God's sake, don't actually think about it.

Remember when Obama wasn't attending intelligence briefings? The response from his loyal minions was that he was so smart, so on top of the intelligence situation, that he just had to read the reports later. This man knew, on the spot, what was going on in the intelligence situation. Hand on the tiller every minute.

And then, it suddenly became a lot more useful for Obama to be a person who wasn't in the loop any more. Someone who found out things long after the CIA and State Department--and the goddam press--knew them. Did you notice that happen? I did.

Other things I've noticed. There are three Senators pursuing this subject. The news media only likes to talk about two of them.

He bucked his party, sometimes voted with Dems, and otherwise demonstrated his integrity and independence.
Then, when he ran for President, he pulled a Romney, sold out to the wingnuts and inflicted Palin on us.

He was so excited about being in the spotlight he probably just forgot to check his calendar. One of his pals will tell him what happened. (Classified hearings don't have transcripts. Any documents associated with them are strictly controlled, checked out to authorized and cleared personnel only on signature, by receipt, etc. Any records of what transpires in classified hearings are kept with the issuing agency that conducted the briefing.)

At least, that's the way it was when I used to attend classified briefings. I wasn't even allowed to take notes, or discuss the material outside the "tank" where I was briefed with other attendees.

During the first Presidential elections back in 2000 or so, McCain was railing against George W Bush but did a complete turnaround one day when Bush accepted the nomination. Then he stood right by his side and started kissing his ass.

Figured they either gave him a large sum of money, or had something on him....in video.
