What this is all about is to attempt to re-establish the GOP claim as the party of national defense and security. With Obama and the Democrats growing street creds due to Bin Ladin, drones and the pirates, not to mention that whatever happens with Iran, if its good, will be all on the Dems, the Republicans are desperate to reclaim that piece of their policy “expertise”. And now that they’ve lost Colin Powell and Gen. Petraeus, they need to nail down that corner of the roof before it all blows away.

Meanwhile, Obama is thinking long term, setting up a defense relationship with Myanmar, thinking long term about the long term pawn game with China down the line. No one saw that coming. I bet we’ll have a Naval Support Facility in Vietnam pretty soon, too.

That’s what the big push to smear Ambassador Rice is all about, and the whole Libya thing, too. No body but the true believers cares. Remember, they don’t need to win this, all they need is to get a conspiracy theory thing going on Fox and the Right-wing press.

This is birth certificates all over again, and McCain is the new Trump.

Why this sudden GOP love affair with Bubba, the man they tried to impeach, a guy they accused of adultery and murder, the President who set the standard the Bush Baby couldn’t even come close to matching, the devil whose very First Lady became a target of sputtering hate and shivering rage like no woman since Eleanor Roosevelt?

Bill Clinton is who everybody thinks of when they remember how well run the country was before Dubya took power. Clinton campaigned actively and effectively for the Great Satan Obama, and single-handledly dismantled Mitt Romney’s entire political program and personality on a thousand podia (sic?) around the country, to the howls and cheers of crazed Democratic audiences.

You’d think if the Republicans really wanted to honor a Democrat, they’d pick someone safely from the distant past, a Democrat who was world-respected, a born-again Christian, philanthropist, a businessman, farmer, family man, military veteran, all the virtues they pay lip-service to–and who even Democrats have to concede had an unsuccesful single term in the White House. Jimmy Carter, after all, did broker the Camp David accords, so he even has the resume for this job.

He was, after all, the man who made Ronald Reagan look good by comparison.

Not sure why anyone thinks the current Palestinian leadership would do anything different.
