Texas is our Middle East. We have too put up with their crap because they’ve got all the oil.

The state flag of Texas and the national flag of the Republic of Chile are so similar, that it is unlikely anyone who wasn’t a resident of either would notice the difference.

Both Cuba and Puerto Rico have similar flags, in the revolutionary tricolor, striped, with a star in a triangular field, its a result of the mutual solidarity of both nations when they fought together against the Spanish Crown for their independence. Both peoples use a similar nickname to Texas to describe their colors; “La Estrella Solitaria”: The Lone Star.

Texas belongs to Mexico, culturally, historically, and socially. There’s a moral kinship, a shared ethic, a common language. The US has simply borrowed it for a while, and it’s time to give it back.

I agree with millions of Texans that they don’t belong to the US, and I say give ‘em their way. And I’d let the people have dual citizenship – Mexican and Guatemalan.

“Remember the Alamo!” The US lost, Texas is theirs.
