A must see; Spielberg's "LINCOLN". November 23, 2012 1:11 pm Jeff-Wash

Saw it last night.

Now I have even greater admiration for Abraham Lincoln BTW.

See the movie and you will see the utter stupidity of some of the cherished political values SOME of you hold. Not all of you, thank God.   Left wing shit; Right wing shit. It’s all the same. Republicans and Democrats, Republicats and Demopublicans. It’s all the same. (That’s why I steer clear of Current Events here; what a waste of time those threads there are…..The movie confirms this.

Politicians are politicians and are a dime a dozen. On the other hand, statesmen are few and far between.  George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, William Pitt, Abe Lincoln, Bismarck, Garibaldi, Disraeli, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Churchill, JFK, Reagan were a few. Too bad. We need a couple today.

Historical figures like Lincoln are called “Republican”; but it’s just a f–kin label, and that’s all.  Lincoln actually TRANSCENDED such labels.  Likewise the Democrats portrayed in the movie, like that spineless  representative who finally had the balls to vote on the rightside of a universal moral issue. His 1860′s Democratic label was mercifully cast away for the common good.
