It is what it is. It includes you and me and gravity. Though gravity is rather higher in terms of importance than you or me - it is an intrinsic feature. According to cosmologists (the prevalent theory), there was a creation event for our universe. It started with insane amounts of energy compressed into an insanely small space. As it expanded and cooled, the various forces we know were created, the physical laws we know came about, time started. Gravity was one of those products. To say that space-time (or the universe) created something is kinda weird. It is what it is. It includes you and me and gravity. Though gravity is rather higher in terms of importance than you or me – it is an intrinsic feature.

You are trying to set up an origins debate where there is no origins debate. If you want to find the true origin of gravity then you are headed in entirely the wrong direction if you ask Einstein (or even Newton for that matter). You need instead to look to quantum mechanics. Please don't ask me to explain it to you because 1) the jury is still out, 2) the math is really hard, and 3) I don't understand it myself. Gravity is a curvature of space-time.
