They would have no choice. NASA data is available to the public, and the world, unprocessed, raw, in real time. It is not encrypted or restricted in any way. The people that work there sign no security agreements, take no secrecy oaths, they are civilians, and many aren't even Americans. Its all part of NASA's charter. Not to mention a lot of the scientific staff have no desire to have their publication rights threatened, and journalists would be expecting to cash in on the scoop of the century. Contrary to popular belief, most science is not done in "secret government labs". There is no Heywood Floyd. They would have to. They would have no choice.
