We still get frustrated with each other, it get's rough, but doesn't seem as hateful as it was. People seem to get over it The closest thing to the hate of old times seems to come from one of the returnees who hasn't learned the new etiquette yet.

I think it's a bit more thoughtful, although TB still worships the megacorporations and doesn't believe any GWB lied and I'm still somewhere to the left of Hawaii.

The invective seems mostly to be a by-product, not the purpose. SDAI came around with great pronouncements about Man, the Universe and the US election, none of which were correct and he wandered off.

So that's what I"ve seen - a safer, calmer, less hostile but no less passionate place. Worth the time one spends now, now worth the time one used to spend.

Take your time leaving and hurry back, as the father of a friend of mine used to say.

Overall, from my point of view it's a worthwhile place.

That's like leaving Shakespeare off a list of great playwrights. "Et al" doesn't cut it...unless "al" is short for alcaray, I suppose.

Sorry alcaray...I've been away longer than I thought...

I've popped in a few times over the last couple of years to see what's happening. Terribly saddened by the passing of Eri and now Fox (thanks to Jody for letting me know about Eri.)

But I was certainly encouraged to find that both you and Mary Anne have resumed posting! With the two of you, along with Robert, ER, Lindy, et al providing balance to our more conservative friends, I sense that the liberal heart and mind is well represented.

Probably the biggest single reason for my departure was that the 'Zone made me angry, and then I'd deal with people here in a manner that I knew was obnoxious. But it looks to me like maybe the 'Zone's a little calmer (not to imply for a second that's it's not still a full-contact arena). Perhaps that, coupled with advancing age (I'm a year older every 12 months!), will inspire me to play a civil game.

Thanks for stumbling around over here. Wonderful to read you. We've mentioned you a few times, but only the Powers That Be have the ability to find addresses.

I trust all is well with you, and you can find a reason to stick around!!

I use my phone as a mobile hotspot more often than I ever thought I would. Not every day mind you, but when the need arises, it's oddly gratifying to be able to connect a laptop or tablet in that fashion. Even "old" tech like 3G is fast enough to challenge a slower broadband connection.
