Conservatives are opposed to even the most simple and reasonable gun control for three reasons. 1) The Liberals are for it, so they have to be against it. It fits into their narrative that anything Liberals are for must be evil. 2) Their allies, the bible-banging rednecks, love their guns like they love their Jesus, so in order to guarantee their support, they must be pandered to. 3) The gun trade is a lucrative business, and as any Conservative can tell you, businessmen have the god-given right--they are entitled, to do any damn thing they please. And what magnificent horseshit.
