Nothing in that article backs any of your statements on AK-47s (or other similar weapons) in drive-bys, drive-by tactics, or the significance of semi-automatic weapons in suicides and accidents. The terms “automatic,” “assault weapon” and “rifle” don’t even appear anywhere in the entire document.

I worked at it and found a couple of cases (in Miami) where some drive-bys took place using AK-47s, but that’s the exception, not the rule.

Fact is, most gang bangers prefer easily-concealed weapons for drive-bys and everything else. Handguns. Rifles of any kind tend not to fall into that category.

California is a leader in drive by shootings, you should be right up to speed on the stats.

So tell me, are NRA whores who consistently vote against even the most reasonable gun legislation not also “enhancing their position with voter”?

The NRA runs a Grover Norquist-type operation with gun laws, and legislators who don’t play get primaried by very well funded opponents. And no, I don’t have statistics, you look them up.

The assault weapon laws everybody’s talking about now? As far as I’m aware, a large magazine or semi-automatic operation does not make that much difference when shooting yourself. Unless you are a really, really bad shot. A typical gun accident also usually involves one bad shot. A gun accident involving multiple trigger pulls is suspicious.

I doubt that’s true, based on what I’ve seen, but I’m willing to look at your sources. To my knowledge, the only place you see someone trying to shoot rifles out of the seat of a moving car is a video game.

You’re playing catch-up on the data, and as usual, trying to do it without actually using any data.

Politicians are using this incident to enhance their political position with voters, as they often do with tragedies and disasters. They don’t have to actually solve a problem, they just have to get the voters to think they will.

Of course, you can kill someone, hurt yourself or someone else, or commit suicide without any firearms at all, but its easier if you have one, and its a lot easier, and a lot more likely if everybody has one, or several.

And you keep on forgetting, I’m one of those 80,000,000 guns owners myself. I’m not for banning them indiscriminately, and maybe I don’t fit your catch-all definition of gun demonizing liberal you seem to be so eager to foist on everyone who doesn’t agree with you.
