Dude, it's just me.

I don't have any customers or employees in here, and I don't do any kind of work except computer stuff.

I put some shelves in for my books, some insulation, and ceiling lights. I did get a permit for the wiring contractor.

Even California isn't this nuts yet.

For instance, seeing that you are in an area zoned for businesses or have an exception, that you have adequate ventilation,. light, ingress and egress with alternative fire escape routes, a sprinkler system, fire department inspections, business licenses posted, no dangerous chemicals, approved electrical circuitry in enclosed conduit, sanitation facilities, are far enough from a public road, adequate firewalls from other businesses or neighbors, adequate distance from residential structures or variances. Set-backs are very important to the value of the neighbors property.

Is there adequate parking on private property for any visitors, subcontractors and/or maintenance. What is the air-flow diagram like and are there directions for exiting in case of fire posted all over.

Of course much of that would have been covered in the permit process you went through to convert the usage from a garage to an office or combined office/garage. And the zoning vaiance will also allow some leeway. As long as the neighbors know and approve. That's a consideration.

A home office is such a nice thing to have, I don't know why there aren't more.

Oh, yes. You have to replace the parking with other parking at least 20 feet away from the street. Can't let the home office take away from off-street parking.

Professional Fart Snooper

Must have 3 years experience in sniffing various gaseous odors and a BS in Biotic Aerosols. Directional origination investigating experience helpful but not necessary. The ability to log entries during uncomfortable periods of flatulent persons a must.

Please send resume and a picture of your nose to the Governmental Associates of Sniffers (GAS).
