There has to be a provocation worthy of some retaliation. You understand my point, where I don't think some would.

Which is that someone carrying a gun will elicit a different response than someone not carrying a gun.

as long as you understand that any assault against a person for no reason beyond their possessing a concealed gun permit, (even if they are known to be a person who has threatened you), will land you in a max security facility.

I get what you say. Not saying it is right or wrong.

Now, if they have announced to the world that they plan to shoot you on sight, a good lawyer would probably get you off.

Women with protection from abuse orders carry. I know some who do. There are special purses.

People who are carrying firearms from place to place for legitimate purposes must have concealed carry permits in some states, because they're carrying firearms from place to place.

Generally, the people who will use a gun against another person are not the ones who register them. And if you have a gun, you have range, so the 2x4 doesn't work well.

Assuming that a person will shoot someone for no reason is the same as assuming that someone with a baseball bat will hit someone with it for no reason. Yet we still play baseball.

To attack someone because they have something with them that makes one nervous is not an excuse for physical attack, and is in fact a legitimate reason to be shot at.

Certainly not after a massacre, emotions run too high. Not after a period of calm, there is no need. As for posting the names and addresses of those with concealed carry permits that should be routine. The only reason for not doing it is so the cowards won't be exposed. I think instinctively they are ashamed of themselves, but can't help it.

I need to know who may be carrying a gun. If I have a disagreement with them I need to smile, bow, scrape and then take 'em out any way I can. Kick their knee, use a 2" X 4" from behind, run over them, break their neck. Because, you see, they are carrying a weapon with the intent of shooting me. They have made the first move, and I can't trust them, turn my back on them, leave them with the capacity to do what they've shown they want to do, which is to shoot me. Around me a person with a gun is less safe than a person without one. (Well, used to be. I'm getting older and more vulnerable, but I'd find a way.)

A gun is not for peaceful purposes, no matter what the NRA propaganda sells to the shills. A gun is for violence, and needs to be defended against. Carrying a gun is an offensive act. And as the NRA says, one has the right to defend oneself.

Now why would some coward want to carry a weapon and not let me know? What good reason is there for that? I have to assume it's to shoot me if they feel like it. And I think they are rightfully ashamed of themselves.

And anyone who doesn't think someone with a concealed weapon isn't looking for an excuse to shoot them also believes that heading overseas and starting wars is in the interests of peace. It just doesn't make sense.

What a bunch of morons.

Let's give felons a shopping list of houses where they can go to get guns.

Let's make sure that the gun owners of the United States have a demonstration of what they can expect from those who oppose them. Why talk to their opponents? Why register weapons so that some self-righteous idiot can publish the list for everyone to see? The object of "concealed carry" is that no one can see.

Let's use the tactics of the anti-abortion nuts on law-abiding people who are just following their own beliefs within the letter of the law.

Have we seen any real investigative journalism here? Have they posted the names and addresses of felons in illegal possession of guns? Nooooo. Real journalism is hard, and dangerous. Let's practice Barbie Journalism! Let's make the NRA's point for them: go after the people who voluntarily comply with the law. They're easy. And now they're angry. More likely to oppose law that will make them easy prey for Barbie Journalists.

Oh, thank you sooooo much, Journal News. The gun insurance proposal, which had such promise, has just been handed an enormous set-back before it had a chance to be discussed by serious people. Database of gun owners? HA! Gun owners now have a vivid demonstration of what happens with that.
