I stockpiled up on 200's and I got a sweet deal on 150 watt NOS GE bulbs - from when they were still made in Canada and the quality control was higher. You may have noticed a flood of really cheaply made incandescent bulbs at your local markets and Walgreen's etc.

It seems that when California outlawed them, GE took it upon themselves to lower the quality of their incandescent bulbs so that they would burn out quicker. I started looking into it further and trying to find the "ultimate incandescents".

I found that there was a bulb called DUROTEST made in the sixties and seventies. They made street lamp bulbs, traffic light bulbs and more. I bought some 100 watt DUROTEST bulbs on Ebay - they probably were made in the early seventies. I screwed four of them into my recessed kitchen lighting and they have been going strong for three years! In the same time the one recessed fixture that uses new GE burns out about every two months.

Unfortunately DUROTEST incandescent bulbs are rare and command a premium when one finds them - but are still cheaper than many fluorescent bulbs. The firm was bought out by Westinghouse and are being phased out, but some are being sold <a href="http://www.budgetlighting.com/store/agora.cgi?&product=Duro-Test&user2=Duro-Test%20Incandescent%20Lamps&user2=Specialty%20Lamps&xm=on&TROD=Duro-Test|Duro-Test%20Incandescent%20Lamps|Specialty%20Lamps#.UOlEg6ywUzQ"" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

It should have been a tip off to consumers when they sell the same fluorescent bulbs as UV plant bulbs!

A side note:

Another health hazard epidemic is microwave radiation from cell phone towers and wifi networks. I use a bug detector that was designed to detect listening devices and scanned my home. I discovered all the "hot spots" of microwave radiation and literally tracked the beams (microwave beams are about the width of a pencil) from room to room. I put up real aluminum screening on all windows and also on the wall between my bedroom and a microwave cell tower- covered by good old fashioned wallpaper.

I know it sounds way over-the-top, and I was reminded of the old crazies of the 70s who lined their walls with aluminum foil, but I slept better as soon as the screen mesh was in place. They clandestinely put up those cell towers everywhere and no one really knows just how much microwave radiation people are getting exposed to and what sort of problems it is causing.

In the future, people will offer this service and set up shop in the "shielding" business; setting up a consultation and then protecting your living areas from excess radiation. It's a 21st century goldmine, comparable to the radon gas warning alarms sold in the 90s. ;-)

Boy, howdy! The way to be safe is to flood the population with firearms, the more the better, everyone armed with one in the chamber.

But watch out for energy-efficient light bulbs. THOSE are hazardous to your health.

I'm glad you've got your perspectives right. Most people are SO screwed up.
